The Iguazú Falls are one of the most overwhelming views in the planet. "Iguazú" means "great water" in the Guaraní Indian tongue, and The Iguazú River, which in its last turn closes in a seemly quiet "U" shape, all of a sudden falls over a 257 ft precipice originated by a geological slide, giving birth to extraordinary waterfalls plunging into an immense canyon known as the Devil’s Throat. Wrapped in mist, thunders and a permanent rainbow, it’s no wonder why this amazing natural monument is considered one of the World’s Wonders and belongs to the World’s Natural Heritage.
Guests spend hours just watching the incredible panorama, strolling through the catwalks or hiking in the red earth paths of the jungle at Iguazú National Park (55.000 hectares).This exuberant rainforest featuring more than 2000 flora species and an amazing local wildlife including monkeys, small jaguars and bright colours butterflies, musicalized by the different singing of thousands of different birds over the thundering waterfalls is a paradise for nature lovers.
Activities in the Iguazú area range from birtdwatching, biking through the jungle, moonlight walks by the falls or an adventure boat ride near the Devil’s Throat, to a day programme to visit the ruins of the Jesuit settlement San Ignacio Miní, founded in 1969.
Limit between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, and just a 2-hour flight away from Buenos Aires, Iguazú is an excellent alternative for any program combining more than one destination within Argentina.
